 Post subject: The Monarch in Venezuela

I found this specimen this afternoon around my house. I'm pretty sure it is a Monarch Danaus plexippus. But the internet informs me, that it reaches as far south as Southern Mexico but here in central Venezuela, we are much further south than that being just over 9° North

I think it's a Queen, Danaus gilippus. Both species get to South America and Brazil. The Monarchs in North America migrate to Mexico in the winter, but in South America there are non-migratory subspecies. Nice shots!
