I have previously identified this Diaethria as Mexican 88, D. asteria. Correct ot not?

asteria is a subspecies of Diaethria astala, which we call Faded 88. I think your photo is Anna's 88, Diaethria anna. This is the common one found in Mexico, so Mexican 88 isn't a bad name for it, but there are several other 88's in Mexico as well. Look at our website under Nymphalids, then 88's, and you can see shots of both Anna's and Faded 88's.
